Drums – Jazz Camp Week 2
na Barreiro is originally from Poços de Caldas, a small city surrounded by mountains in the Southeast of Brazil. She moved to São Paulo at age 17 where she was introduced to Jazz and studied Brazilian Music with great musicians in the city such as Lupa Santiago, Daniel D’Alcantara, Carlos Ezequiel, Vitor Alcantara, Lilian Carmona, Sizão Machado, Nenê, Bob Wyatt.
After her time in São Paulo, she relocated to the USA and studied at Berklee College of Music on a Latin American Scholarship graduating with a Performance Degree. After her studies at Berklee, she received a Masters Degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Southern California where she studied with Peter Erskine. In Brazil and in the US, Ana has had the privilege of working with great musicians such as Lupa Santiago, Filó Machado, Otmaro Ruiz, Catina DeLuna, Isaias Elpes, Carey Frank, Marcella Camargo, and Liza Wallace. Ana is currently a freelance musician and educator living in Los Angeles.
