razilian drummer and educator Ana Barreiro first came to SJW as a Jazz Institute participant. With her extraordinary musicianship and bright personality, she quickly distinguished herself, and became an SJW faculty member the following year.

A key musician in the LA jazz and Brazilian music scenes, Ana has performed with artists such as Catina deLuna and Lado B Brazilian Project, Otmaro Ruiz, Carol Bach-y-rita, Thalma de Freitas, João Donato, Paulinho Garcia, Elizabeth Lamers, Andrea Motis, Scott Hamilton, Larry Koonse, Bob Sheppard, Bruce Forman, Scott Healy, Kirsten Edkins, and Isaac Smith. As avid an educator as a performer, Ana is on the Faculty of the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, and has been traveling and teaching clinics in China, Thailand, and Brazil, where she also organizes the Drum Camp Sul de Minas with the goal of facilitating high-level drum activities in her hometown.

Her most recent project with pianist Amy K Bormet, AmyAna has been released on Strange Women Records, with shows to be announced in the US and Brazil. Ana is proud to use Zildjian Cymbals, Vic Firth Sticks and Remo Drumheads.
