Giant Steps Big Band: The best place for trumpet and trombone players this Fall!

The best way for middle school trumpet and trombone players to get really good, really fast is to join one of SJW’s Giant Steps Big Bands! These fun big bands meet weekly, and they’re led by some of the top jazz educators in the Bay Area: Kristen Strom, Dr. David Hart, and Dave Gregoric. Besides playing really great music with the best young jazz players from a lot of different middle schools, you get a master class on trumpet or trombone every week from one of the Bay Area’s great jazz artists. It’s the most fun, exciting, and motivating way to learn about jazz.

The requirements are simple:

  • You don’t have to know anything about jazz
  • You do have to have been playing your instrument in lessons or a school music program for at least one year
  • If your school does have a music program, you must be enrolled in the music program in order to participate in the Giant Steps Big Band program.

You have three bands to choose from:

Giant Steps Big Band, North

Meets Wednesdays, Mills High School, Millbrae, 6:45-8:45

Giant Steps Big Band, Mid-Peninsula

Giant Steps Big Band, South

Meets Tuesdays, the Harker School Middle Campus, San Jose, 6:45-8:45
