SJW Fall Jazz Festival 2023: Thanks to all the great bands that participated!

Watch the entire day of performances above — see the schedule of bands below!

SJW’s second annual Fall Jazz Festival will feature performances by 20 of the best school jazz bands in the Bay Area and a noon concert by SJW’s spectacular faculty artists — all free and open to the public.

Participating school jazz bands will get a private clinic following their performances from one of the top jazz educators in California. Our adjudicators for the SJW School Jazz Festival are Gary Pratt, Professor Emeritus California State University, Northridge; George Stone from Cuesta College; Mary Fettig from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music; Dave Eshelman, professor emeritus, California State University, East Bay; and Jeff Lewis from San Jose State University.

Participating musicians will also be able to attend clinics on a variety of topics that will help them improve their musicianship and jazz playing, with clinics by SJW faculty artists Erik Jekabson (trumpet), Dahveed Behroozi (piano), Tomoko Funaki (bass), and Lorca Hart (drums).

A double-bill noon concert will feature the Miles Ahead Big Band and a performance by the SJW Faculty Artists.

School band performances begin at 7:45 AM in Dinkelspiel Auditorium.

The SJW Fall Jazz Festival is directed by Mike Galisatus, director of the Stanford Jazz Orchestra at Stanford University.

We hope to see you there!
