Experience a unique, intimate duo performance by world-class clarinetist Anat Cohen and guitarist Marcello Gonçalves. Celebrated for her expressive virtuosity—from infectious joy to soulful melancholy—Cohen’s artistry perfectly complements Gonçalves’ impeccable style, delivering an unforgettable journey in jazz innovation.

Clarinetist Anat Cohen and 7-string guitarist Marcello Gonçalves team up for a series of breathtaking melodies, Brazilian grooves, and elements of classical music and jazz that showcase their intricate talents.

The duo performs music from their Grammy-nominated album, Outra Coisa: The Music of Moacir Santos, as well as selections from their second album, Reconvexo, featuring a repertoire inspired by the beauty of Brazil and the spirit of its people. They also offer a preview of their upcoming album.

This dynamic duo is intimate and virtuosic, mournful and hopeful. DownBeat Magazine writes, “The mastery of the two musicians is such as to render additional instruments superfluous.” On stage, their joyful interplay is utterly captivating.

Quotes:

DownBeat Magazine raves, “Outra Coisa achieves something very rare… The mastery of the two musicians is such as to render additional instruments superfluous.” On stage, Cohen and Gonçalves bring these works to life with joyful spontaneity and deep musical chemistry, creating a performance that is both captivating and profoundly expressive.

A perennial winner of “Clarinetist of the Year” honors from DownBeat, JazzTimes, and the Jazz Journalists Association, Cohen is celebrated worldwide for her expressive virtuosity, charismatic presence, and genre-defying artistry. As The New York Times hails, she is truly a “Master” of her craft.
