Bring your big band for a great day of music!
The SJW Fall Jazz Festival is full! We can’t wait to hear these 20 amazing bands.
SJW’s third annual Fall Jazz Festival will feature performances by some of the best school jazz bands in the Bay Area and a noon concert by a special guest ensemble — all free and open to the public.
Open to high school and middle school jazz bands, the Festival will be held at Braun Music Center on the Stanford University campus on Saturday, December 7, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Festival is non-competitive, and your band will receive a clinic immediately following their performance. In addition to the clinic, your band will receive recorded comments from the adjudicators, as well as a complimentary recording of the performance.
Our adjudicators for the 2024 SJW Fall Jazz Festival are Barb Catlin-Bergeron, California Institute of Technology, Pomona; Gary Pratt, Professor Emeritus, California State University, Northridge; Mike Dana, Professor Emeritus, Fresno City College; Dr. Doug Leibinger, Sonoma State University; and Erik Jekabson, California Jazz Conservatory.
Your students will also be able to attend a free lunchtime concert, as well as clinic sessions with some of SJW’s top faculty artists.
Bands will be scheduled in 25-minute performances, including set up, performance, and exit. Each band’s performance will be preceded by a 25-minute warmup, and followed by a clinic with one of our stellar adjudicators.
For the 20 bands that have already signed up, checks should be made out to Stanford Jazz Workshop and mailed so that they are received no later than November 10, 2024. Send payment to:
