Tommy Occhiuto
Saxophone – Giant Steps Day Camp
Tommy Occhiuto is a saxophonist, composer, and music educator. In 2003, Tommy earned his degree in Jazz Studies and Performance from University of Loyola, New Orleans. While in New Orleans, he played professionally in traditional and contemporary performance settings until his move to the Bay Area in 2007. Since his arrival, he has taught music at Borel Middle School, the Stanford Jazz Workshop, and privately. Currently, he co-directs the Music and Arts program at East Palo Alto’s Live In Peace Music Academy using his unique influences to shape the sound of that community. He can often be seen performing with members of Adam Theis’ Jazz Mafia, as well as a consortium of the Bar Area’s most prominent musicians.
