Taylor Eigsti and Friends, featuring Julian Lage and Eric Harland
SJW superstars come to blow the room away.
When Taylor Eigsti was twelve, his idol, Dave Brubeck, told the world that Taylor was the most amazing talent he’d ever seen . Seventeen years later, it seems Dave wasn’t whistling Dixie. As a teen, Taylor dazzled the cognoscenti (and collaborators such as Esperanza Spalding, Joshua Redman, Dave Douglas, and Lee Konitz) with an unbridled spirit of delight and a blindingly comprehensive mastery of seemingly every style of music. As a student at SJW, he met his guitar doppelganger, Julian Lage (himself, the subject of a documentary at age eight) and the two have been opening the world’s ears to the possibilities that a guitar and piano present ever since. Add to this pairing Eric Harland, arguably the most in-demand drummer of his generation, as well as other stars from the SJW faculty, and you have an evening that will create unique memories. No matter what songs they play – standards to Coldplay to Feist – you’ll leave saying, “This was great jazz.”
Personnel: Taylor Eigsti, piano; Julian Lage, guitar; Dayna Stephens, saxophone; Eric Harland, drums
