Voice – SJW Jazz Camp Online
JW is thrilled to be able to add vocalist extraordinaire Stevie Greenwell to the Jazz Camp faculty, at last.
As Director of Vocal Studies at the Marin School of the Arts, Stevie led the vocal jazz program to its award-winning position as a leading jazz choir, nationwide. Under her stewardship, the program doubled in size, and she was awarded the “Golden Bell” award for outstanding teaching in 2016.
Stevie works to connect people to their voice musically and emotionally. Stevie believes the voice can be a tool of reflection and expression to help us learn who we are and what we want to express to the world. An active performer, Stevie appears with the Jazz Mafia Choral Syndicate, and other artists around the Bay Area. She is the founder and director of the Thrive Community Choir and is the artistic director for the Diablo Women’s Chorale. Stevie facilitates choir retreats, and clinics choirs around the Bay. She is an artist in residence for “Youth in Arts” and an educator for “Girls Leadership.” She also teaches at the Marin-based singing camp, “Own the Mic,” which was voted “Best in the Bay: by Parents’ Press in 2015.
