Spend a week at Spring Break Combos and have fun playing in a small band!

Spring Break Combos LA

Spring Break Combos is a week-long program in which you get to play in a small band, live and in-person, with other young musicians who play at your level. You’ll get experience and instruction that will improve your jazz playing faster than you ever thought possible.

In just two hours each day, our faculty artists will introduce you to some of the greatest jazz repertoire, help your band to sound great together, and show you how to master the skills you need to improvise.

If your spring break isn’t the same as Spring Break Combos, you can still participate! All sessions are scheduled after school in the afternoon and evening.

Spring Break Combos LA will be held at Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles, from April 4 – 8. If you live in the LA area, sign up now!

For all vocalists and instrumentalists
Ages 12- 18

Prerequisite: 12 months of instrumental or vocal instruction. No jazz experience required!

Who is Spring Break Combos for?

Spring Break Combos is open for all vocalists and instrumentalists ages 12-18 who have had at least 12 months of instruction. No jazz experience required!

Spring Break Combos is designed to provide a supportive instructional environment for musicians of varying levels of skill and experience, including:

  • Musicians who have never tried jazz but who have proficiency singing or on an instrument.
  • Developing young musicians who play in their school jazz bands and want to learn to improvise and solo better.
  • Advanced classical students with a strong command of their voice or instrument, but lack jazz experience.
  • Advanced jazz players who want to improve their improvisation skills while playing with a small group

Pricing

Tuition: $595

Financial aid is available to deserving students aged 17 and under. You can apply for financial aid when you register online, or after you register.

Price includes a copy of the Real Easy Book, Volume 1, 3-Horn Edition! This book is one of the most popular resources for developing jazz musicians, with great-sounding arrangements of many classic jazz compositions.
