Burning, rootsy blues guitar and vocals.

“[Eric Bibb is] what the blues in the new century should be about.”
~ Dan Akroyd, a.k.a Elwood Blues

Ruth Davies’ Blues Night with Special Guest Eric Bibb

Burning, rootsy blues guitar and vocals.

Ruth Davies’ Blues Night is more than a just a regular feature of the Stanford Jazz Festival. With a history of introducing SJW audiences to the best blues artists in the world, such as Keb’ Mo’, Charlie Musselwhite, Robben Ford, Henry Butler, and many more, Ruth is keeping the flame of traditional blues alive and well. A blues legend herself, she’s toured and recorded with artists like John Lee Hooker, Jimmy Witherspoon, Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison, Elvin Bishop, and many others. Ruth is joined tonight by the sensational Grammy-nominated guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Eric Bibb, whose approach to down-home blues is fresh, original, and compelling. Eric is a true troubadour of the world, touring the U.S., Canada, France, Sweden, Germany, and many other locations since he took up residence in Europe in the ’70s. He’s performed and recorded with an amazing array of diverse artists, such as Pops and Mavis Staples, Charlie Musselwhite, Guy Davis, Hubert Sumlin, Rory Block, Maria Muldaur, Bonnie Raitt, Jerry Douglas, and Habib Koite, among many others. Calling himself a progressive preservationist, Eric is one of the leading bluesmen of his generation, with a powerful voice and masterful resonator guitar chops.
