A genius of jazz violin, whether subtle or swinging.

“The finest jazz violinist of her generation.”
~ New York Times

Regina Carter & Xavier Davis: Duos and Quartet

A genius of jazz violin, whether subtle or swinging.

Stanford Jazz Festival audiences always pack the house for Regina Carter. Simply put, her performances connect with listeners on a deeply emotional level, and her joy is contagious.  She’s collaborated with a strikingly diverse array of the world’s great musicians, from Mary J. Blige to Wynton Marsalis, and Billy Joel to Milt Jackson, and her own voice as an improviser and interpreter continues to grow. Her musical openness and virtuosity enable her to create programs that are astonishingly creative and beautiful. Accompanied by her longtime keyboardist Xavier Davis, we can expect a deeply moving and exciting performance, both as a duo and as a quartet with rhythm section featuring Roy McCurdy on drums and bassist Josh Thurston-Milgrom.

Personnel:
Regina Carter, violin
Xavier Davis, piano
Josh Thurston-Milgrom, bass
Roy McCurdy, drums
