One of the great new voices in jazz.

“Ravi began with a whisper, coaxing the trio into full-blown density. . . .”
~ All About Jazz

Ravi Coltrane

One of the great new voices in jazz.

Ravi Coltrane is the son of Alice and John Coltrane, but even with the weighty mantle of this unparalleled lineage, the saxophonist and composer has blazed his own path in jazz, forming deep ties with greats such as Jack DeJohnette, Geri Allen, McCoy Tyner, Joanne Brackeen, Kenny Baron, Steve Coleman, and many others. The world may have been a bit slow to recognize his strengths as a bandleader, but now — as you can hear in this intimate concert — his prowess is unquestionable. A master of multiple saxophones, he will go deep with longtime collaborators Ralph Alessi on trumpet and George Colligan on piano.

Personnel:
Ravi Coltrane, saxophone
Ralph Alessi, trumpet
George Colligan, piano
Eric Revis, bass
Dafnis Prieto, drums
