Electrifying big band Latin Jazz.
“The love affair between Pete Escovedo and the world of percussion took off like wildfire, and is still burning 45 years later.”

Pete Escovedo 80th Birthday Celebration
Electrifying big band Latin Jazz.
Pete Escovedo is truly the Grand Master of Bay Area Latin jazz. Also known as the father of Prince cohort and band-mate Sheila E., Pete first exploded on the national scene when he and brother Coke became crucial members of the legendary Carlos Santana band in the ’70s. With the Santana imprimatur, Pete and Coke re-defined the West Coast Latin jazz/salsa hybrid through their ever-expanding Azteca big band. This was an influential group that set the stage for contemporary Latin dance music. These days Pete is constantly touring and recording with luminaries like Herbie Hancock, Bobby McFerrin, Arturo Sandoval, Chick Corea, and Prince. And we’re thrilled he’s gracing our stage with jazz you can dance to: soaring brass, irresistible grooves, and his unmistakable percussion.
