Joshua Redman with Aaron Parks, Matt Penman, and Eric Harland: James Farm
The future of the acoustic jazz quartet.
Come experience the future of the acoustic jazz quartet. James Farm is the eye-opening invention of four formidable visionaries: Saxophonist Joshua Redman is a Harvard grad who turned his back on Yale Law School to lead a jazz revolution with shining lights like Larry Goldings, Charlie Haden, and Pat Metheny. Pianist (and first time SJW faculty member) Aaron Parks toured with Terence Blanchard during his last year at Manhattan School of Music. Matt Penman is the SFJazz Collective bassist and composer who takes time from his composing schedule to play with Dave Douglas, Kenny Werner, and Fred Hersch. And drummer Eric Harland? Well, his employers MyCoy Tyner, Branford Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis, Esperanza Spalding, and Wayne Shorter can’t be wrong. Part ECM precision, part New World boldness, part pure melodic chutzpah, James Farm is a musical adventure in the tradition of the greatest jazz foursomes.
Personnel: Joshua Redman, saxophone; Aaron Parks, piano; Matt Penman, bass; Eric Harland, drums
