A living legend of jazz drums.
Jimmy Cobb’s Mob
A living legend of jazz drums.
Jimmy Cobb was Miles Davis’ drummer from 1957 through 1963 and brought his unique percussive vision to Sketches of Spain, Someday My Prince Will Come, Porgy and Bess, and the biggest-selling jazz album in history, Kind of Blue. With credits like that, what do you do for an encore? In Jimmy’s case: everything. He launched into a frenzy of big name sideman stints with his former Davis rhythm section partners Wynton Kelly and Paul Chambers and brought his impeccable time and taste to artists like Sonny Stitt, Hank Jones, Ron Carter, and George Coleman. Whether he’s running down a blazing up-tempo number with Joey DeFrancesco or bumpin’ with Wes Montgomery, Jimmy is always as infectious and grooving as he was on “So What” or “All Blues”. Come see what new surprises Cobb is cooking up with SJW superstars like Ingrid Jensen, Larry Grenadier, and Peter Bernstein.
