Intimate, joyful Brazilian jazz.

“A present day multicultural wonder.”
~ The New Yorker

Jazz Brazil: Anat Cohen / Romero Lubambo / Vitor Gonçalves

Intimate, joyful Brazilian jazz.

It’s lucky for us that Anat Cohen has fallen in love with the music of Brazil. We’re the beneficiaries of the application of her insatiable curiosity, deep intellect, and blazing clarinet virtuosity to the varied genres of this musically rich culture. Guitarist Romero Lubambo is no stranger to the Stanford Jazz Festival, and through his work with vocalists such as Astrud Gilberto, Luciana Souza, and Claudia Acuña, as well as with major jazz artists such as Mike Brecker and Pat Metheny, he’s become an icon of Brazilian guitar. Accordionist and pianist Vitor Gonçalves provides the harmonic and rhythmic counterpart to Romero’s guitar; the interplay between all three musicians will have you dancing in the aisles.

Personnel:
Anat Cohen, clarinet
Romero Lubambo, guitar
Vitor Gonçalves, piano and accordion
