A guiding light of jazz piano, still burning.

“Defined modern mainstream jazz piano.”
~ All Music Guide

George Cables Trio with Anat Cohen and Ravi Coltrane

A guiding light of jazz piano, still burning.

George Cables has been nearly ubiquitous in the history of jazz piano, playing as a sideman with Art Blakey, Sonny Rollins, Freddy Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Dexter Gordon, Art Pepper, Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, and many other great artists. His own distinct voice as a pianist and composer is less well-known, though no less exquisite, and his recordings as a leader are gems of jazz perfection, and are highly sought-after collector’s items. The Stanford Jazz Festival is honored to present an evening with George at the piano, in concert with young jazz greats from the faculty of the SJW Jazz Institute.

Personnel:
George Cables, piano
Anat Cohen, saxophone
Ravi Coltrane, saxophone
Eric Revis, bass
Kendrick Scott, drums
