Vincent De Jesus is a multi-percussionist, drummer and teaching artist from San Antonio, Texas. With roots in Mexico and Puerto Rico, music has always been a significant part of life. Growing up, he played music with family, in church and even sang in the church choir. He also played in his school’s music programs, where he discovered his love for the world of jazz. Today, he is a freelance musician and teaching artist with over 12 years of teaching and performance experience. He teaches a range of classes including Afro-Latin Percussion, Design Thinking, Creative Coding and 3D Design in Elementary and Middle Schools throughout the Bay Area. Musically, he leads the Bay Area Latin Soul Project, an experimental group fusing the Afro-Caribbean styles of Cuba and Puerto Rico with Black American music from the US like jazz, funk and hip-hop.
