Early Bird Jazz for Kids: Jim Nadel and the Zookeepers

Bring all the kids to learn about jazz, hear great music, and to explore our Instrument Petting Zoo!

The gift of jazz appreciation can enrich a child’s development in many ways, including strengthening perception and teaching social skills. But you can’t take your kids to a nightclub! SJW founder Jim Nadel and some of the Bay Area’s finest musicians have the solution — an entertaining, informative introduction to jazz, presented in a kid-friendly environment, at a parent-friendly price!

Nadel has more than four decades of experience at the forefront of jazz education, with first-hand knowledge of the music’s history and some of its most colorful characters. In this engaging and interactive program, Jim and his Zookeepers demonstrate musical styles, concepts, and instruments from the world of jazz.

After the show, your family is welcome to stop by our famed Instrument Petting Zoo, where the kids can touch and play the instruments heard onstage.

Personnel:
Jim Nadel, saxophone
Allegra Bandy, vocals
Benito Cortez, violin
Stefan Cohen, tenor saxophone
Jeff Sanford, woodwinds
Geechi Taylor, trumpet
Mabel Smith, trombone
Christina Galisatus, piano
