hile majoring in jazz saxophone at DeAnza College in the early seventies, Bob was a student in the first Stanford Jazz Workshop.  A year later, he began teaching at the workshop.  In 1970, he was a founding member of the world-traveled Natural Gas Jazz Band, having toured 30 countries and made 16 recordings in 46 years.  He was a headliner at the 1987 and 1989 Kobe Jazz Festival in Japan.  He has played the North Sea Jazz Festival (Holland), the Edinburgh Festival (Scotland), Havana Latin Jazz Festival (Cuba), the Cork International Jazz Festival (Ireland), and the Stanford Jazz Festival.  In 1989, he was the first American jazz saxophonist to perform in Siberia.  He leads a jazz trio and often plays on the Stanford campus.
