Bennett is an SJW alumnus and one of the hottest pianists, composers, and emcees in the San Francisco Bay Area. At age 7, he began playing piano and immediately became enamored of legendary jazz pianists such as Dave Brubeck, Thelonious Monk, McCoy Tyner, and Bill Evans. As a teenager, he found a love for hip-hop and began honing his craft as a lyricist, recording artist, producer, and live performer. He has performed at San Jose Jazz Summerfest and Winterfest, Yoshi’s, Shoreline Amphitheatre, Great American Music Hall, Cafe Stritch, Herbst Theater, Black Cat Jazz Club, The New Parish, and The National Black Theatre Festival to name a few. His discography includes the duo album “After You”(2015) alongside guitarist Mason Razavi, “The Bad Ones” self-titled debut (2016), with 6 credited compositions, and “Put It Out” (2019), a 4-song hip-hop and jazz-influenced EP. In addition to performing his own music and leading his own bands, Bennett appears frequently with a wide range of jazz, R&B, and soul acts such as Amy Dabalos, Jonah Melvon, The Illiance, Greysmith, Mason Razavi, The Bad Ones, Lilan Kane, Tracy Cruz, Maya Victoria, and more. Bennett earned his bachelor’s degree in jazz studies from Sonoma State University and his Master’s degree in jazz studies from San Jose State University. Over the course of his music career, he has played alongside some of jazz’s finest musicians, including Matt Wilson, John Handy, Aaron Lington, Wally Schnalle, Carl Allen, Marc Sherman, Steffen Kuehn, John Worley, John Shifflett, Jason Lewis, Tony Lindsay, Mike Williams, Jamie Davis, Lorca Hart, Idris Ackamoor, and more.
