Swinging big band arrangements and soaring vocals, in the tradition of the American Songbook.

An American Songbook Celebration

Swinging big band arrangements and soaring vocals, in the tradition of the American Songbook.

This exciting afternoon show features an all-star lineup of great Bay Area instrumentalists, performing some of the best-loved tunes and standards from the Great American Songbook, arranged by the legendary jazz musician and composer, Ray Brown. Rising star Allegra Bandy will front the band, delivering an unforgettable performance with her uplifting and captivating vocals. Ray Brown directs both large and small configurations of the band, and special guest pianist Eddie Mendenhall anchors the rhythm section in both for this swinging show. The SJW Alumni Big Band features some of the Bay Area’s top instrumentalists, including tenor saxophonists Mike O’Neil and Marcus Wolfe, alto saxophonist Howard Cespedes, and many others.
