A true drum original from bop to pop.

“. . . her craftiness as a percussionist is met by her ingenuity as a composer and group conceptualist.”
~ The New Yorker

Allison Miller Quartet featuring Anat Cohen

A true drum original from bop to pop.

Described by critics as a charismatic and rhythmically propulsive drummer with melodic sensibility, Allison Miller has been named “Rising Star Drummer” and “Top 20 Jazz Drummers” in Downbeat Magazine’s acclaimed Critics Poll. And you can tell a lot about an artist, in this case the ingenious drummer Allison Miller, by the company she keeps: pop chanteuses Ani DiFranco and Natalie Merchant, jazz organ legend Dr. Lonnie Smith, avant-garde trailblazer Marty Ehrlich, and tonight: the amazing woodwind virtuoso Anat Cohen. Coming from the jazz tradition, she engages her deep roots in improvisation to explore all music. A charismatic and rhythmically propulsive drummer with melodic sensibility, Allison has been named “Rising Star Drummer” and “Top 20 Jazz Drummer” in Downbeat magazine’s acclaimed Critics Poll. And she’s toured the world three times on behalf of the U.S. State Department as a Jazz Ambassador delivering an anything-can-happen excitement coupled with locked-in-the-pocket grooves. Don’t miss the artist that LA Scene calls, “ . . . one of the most exciting percussive people on the music scene today.”
